In January 2005, the community gathered at the WBNA Annual meeting to hear presentations and view design proposals by local architects for the transformation of the site at 1577 Westminster Street from an abandoned service station to a new building with affordable retail and housing units. A wide variety of ideas about environmentally sensitive design in an urban context came forth, and it was an exciting way to kick off the project! Neighbors were asked to vote for their preferred design and along with a jury made up of the WBNA Community Development Committee, chose the design by William Kite Architects. Presentation boards are shown here, and larger versions are on display at WBNA headquarters. ![]() Design entry by LOCAL and Truthbox www.truthbox.com ![]() Design entry by Two Ton www.twotoninc.com ![]() Winning Design by William Kite Architects |
