Superintendent Evans has formed an Advisory Task Force for the West Broadway Elementary School.

WBNA has been asked to serve on this committee to advise the development of a plan for the long-term future of West Broadway Elementary School.  Neighbors have also been asked to serve.

Subcommittees have been formed to develop recommendations for the instructional program to be offered in the schools, to recommend the grade configuration for the school, and to discuss and propose recommendations for the location and facility for the school.

Your membership on these subcommittees will be a crucial part of the effort to secure the future of West Broadway Elementary School!  Please contact Matt at 831-9344 or at wbna@wbna.org if you're interested in becoming a member of the Task Force.

Over months and many meetings and hearings last spring, WBNA advocated for keeping the entire West Broadway Elementary School community in the historic, neighborhood school on Bainbridge street on the grounds that renovating the existing building for a 21st century educational facility would be more keeping with the historic area where it is located and more cost effective. A recent study by Designpartnership of Cambridge, Inc. (the study was made possible by the Providence Preservation Society and the National Trust for Historic Preservation) confirmed that the renovations can be done for less than new construction.
