WBNA Community Development Committee project review meeting of garages on Grant Street as a part of the Carpenter Mills project, Tues., 4/14, 7PM, WBNAHQ

The WBNA CDC committee will be reviewing a project proposal by the developers of Carpenter Mills for the garages on Grant Street. The Meeting will begin at 7PM at the WBNA Headquarters. Following the project review the committee will be talking about how to get the word out to neighbors about the upcoming charrette as well as discuss other neighborhood priorities such as the West Broadway Elementary School. Neighbors are welcome.



West Side Spring Clean-up, Sat., April 25

8:30AM-1PM

Meet at the Dexter Training Ground for White Electric Coffee.

Clean our neighborhood streets.

Then, gather for a cookout at 1:00PM at the WBNA Headquarters.

Thanks to White Electric, the District 4 Community Police and the Providence Department of Public Works for working together with WBNA on the clean-up.

Bring tools if you have them or you can sign out tools from the WBNA or Public Works.

West End, Federal Hill & Reservoir Triangle Charrette, May 4-7


The Providence Department of Planning and Development will be writing a neighborhood plan for our neighborhood and will be seeking input from neighbors on May 4-7. Look out for more details for specific locations and workshop times. Your voice is needed in telling the city what you think about:

 

  • Reopening the West Broadway Elementary School
  • What should happen with the Louttit Laundry site
  • How do we help our local businesses thrive?
  • Your opinion on the Dexter Training Ground, Ellery Park, Mansion Park, Franciscan Park
  • How can we improve the connection between our neighborhoods and Olneyville and Downtown?
  • Our commercial corridors of Atwells, Broadway, Westminster and Cranston

 

The list goes on and on....what is important to you...what needs attention....come out and bring neighbors to truly make the neighborhood plan a plan shaped by neighbors.



 

 

West Side House Party at Tony Freitas' House, 945 Westminster Street

Friday, May 15, 5:30-9:30PM

 

Join host Tony Freitas at his home for a West Side House Party to benefit the WBNA.

See his grand, new home that sits above his office in between Westminster and Washington Streets. Get a house tour, enjoy the view of Downtown from his expansive decks, enjoy sumptuous cocktails and delicious food, and listen to music by Vincent Bucci. There will be a raffle of gift cards to local restaurants and bars and a live auction of artwork by Deb Hickey. Tickets are $25 each or 2 for $40. Tickets will be available for sale soon at www.wbna.org.
