West Side residents & members of the WBNA have always taken pride in their initiated vigilance to protect and keep our neighborhood safe for the residents and our community alike. We have taken back our neighborhood in a grass roots manner for over 30 years.
Because of our community’s dedication to making this neighborhood a safer and better environment neighbors have come together from small meetings in people’s houses and at the WBNA HQ to making each other aware of any crime in our neighborhood.
Monthly Neighborhood Action Crime Watch "On the 4th Tuesday of each month, neighbors meet with members of the Providence Police Department, the Attorney General's office, and on occasion the Mayor's office, to discuss crime and quality of life issues in our neighborhood." Everyone is welcome!

Most recently, a group of residents who live in The Column section of the neighborhood have taken to the internet in the form of GOOGLE CRIME WATCH. It has been a very effective tool in keeping each other informed and helping the police solve and keep crime down in our community so much so that residents throughout District 4 now use the group (District 4 is the police area of coverage for our West Side neighborhoods). Our community police officers are also members of the group. Postings from members have helped the police target problem houses, drug dealers, and other nuisances that reduce the Quality of Life for those of us who live in this community. The group has helped the police to keep a pulse on the goings on in our neighbourhood.
Through this GOOGLE GROUP, we have also been successful in helping capture some perpetrators of crimes from Petty theft to Breaking & Entering.
Crime Watch GOOGLE Group Moderator(s): Anyone wishing to join this group should please email the Moderator of the group at columncrimewatchmoderator@gmail.com with subject line “Add to Crime Watch Group”, and you will be added to this group.
