I very much believe in "SWELL" living and the West Side is a place where that lifestyle is possible. More importantly, the diversity and thriving community found on the West Side make it a wonderful place to raise my two young boys.

Owner, Method Fitness Personal Training Studio
I moved to the Westside of Providence in 2001, after living in Boston for 6 years. I was immediately attracted to the eclecticism and the historicity of Providence. And I was especially excited by the creative entrepreneurial energy popping up all over the Westside. I was excited and confident in investing here in home, and business, and opened my first personal training studio in 2003 on Westminster St. I'm proud to be vice-president of the WBNA, and to chair its Community Development Committee, and to have served on various ad hoc committees. I also serve on the Providence Economic Development Partnership, and the Providence Revolving Fund's Neighborhood Review Board.

I love the West Side of Providence for many reasons – its cultural and economic diversity, amazing food scene, historic architecture, its park and Castle – but most of all because it feels real, it feels like home. People say hello, take care of their neighbors, and truly care about one another in a way that I have not experienced elsewhere.
Parade Street, 3.5 years in the neighborhood
I like the neighborhood for its park, its safety and the ethnic food I can walk to and buy. I also enjoy the historical homes in the neighborhood.

The two things that make the West Side great are diversity and community. Many places are diverse, and many have a strong community. The combination of both is rare. The West Side is a place where a wide spectrum of people are equally celebrated and welcomed.
Lived in the neighborhood for 6.5 years
The West Side is one of those neighborhoods where one can turn a corner and discover something totally neat, unexpected, and great. From the charming Victorian houses to the thriving businesses along Westminster and Broadway, and the strong community that works to make it all happen, the West Side is one of the best neighborhoods in the city where one can live, work, and play.

The West Side is a great neighborhood for several reasons: for having a real “Sense of Community,” its diversity, its housing stock and history, location in Providence and its range of ages! Range of incomes, different businesses, its awareness of local issues and global issues…

I live in the neighborhood and I think it's great due to the diversity of the neighborhood, the excellent restaurants and shops, as well as the upcoming Urban Greens Food Co-op.
Mt. Pleasant Avenue
Brewmaster, Revival Brewing
The West Side is an amazing community of people from all walks of life. Rich in culture and diversity, and flourishing with new businesses as well as established ones. Once a challenged neighborhood the west side’s “Revival” is one that I have witnessed for the better part of 19 years and I am happy and privileged to represent it.

There is so much that is fantastic about the West Side: the history; the parks; the shops and restaurants; being able to walk (or bike) to downtown; and, of course, the neighbors... I love that so many of my neighbors feel strongly about working to maintain a thriving, diverse, lively neighborhood.

I love the people who live here. The West Side is brimming with innovators, preservationists, artists, thinkers, and families; and I love that my neighbors are just as passionate about this little corner of the city as I am.

With its remarkable history, diversity and architecture, its distinct, creative and artistic culture, along with unique small businesses and spectacular dining, it’s no wonder that the West Broadway neighborhood is known as the best in Providence. It will be a pleasure to work even more closely with the WBNA to ensure that this distinction only grows stronger!
Ellery Street, 5 years in the neighborhood
My wife and I were drawn to the West Side by the diversity and strength of community we found here. We were fortunate to find a simple Victorian-style multifamily home that had recently been restored by the Armory Revival Company. We made our first neighborhood friends through that Armory community and continue to meet new people from all walks of life through WBNA events, the summertime farmers’ markets and our daily dog walk to Bell St Park. We have found the West Side a welcoming and friendly place to live. I love the dynamic of life on the West Side. As a community, we face serious issues, but these challenges can help bring us together. I look forward to working on the board of the WBNA to overcome our issues and celebrate our differences.

Retired Program Director and Volunteer Manager, Providence Children's Museum, Ready to Learn Providence, Providence CityArts!
I love living in a neighborhood where people are friendly, where neighborhood events create a sense of community, and where the neighborhood group creates opportunities like the solar panel program to participate in. My electric bill is $0 because of WBNA!
