Neighborhood Action & Crime Watch Meeting

  • WBNA Headquarters 1560 Westminster Street Providence, RI, 02909 United States
On the Weekend of 8/22 there were shots fired at a residence located at 17 Hudson Street,  during a drive-by on 8/23 several bullets struck a house on Sycamore Street. This is a gang-related shooting
-- Lt. Richard Fernandes, District 4 Police Commander

This residence has been a concern to neighbors for 20+ years because of repeated dangerous activity. Since 2005, the police have recorded 70 calls about this property. Records indicate that in 2008 there were 2 shootings, in 2011 there was a firearm issue, in 2013 there was a shooting in the back yard of 17 HUDSON ST (this particular incident resulted in a HUGE outcry from neighbors) and most recently on two consecutive nights this August. While research went back to 2005, neighbors are aware of incidences at this address going as far back as 1995.

IF THIS SITUATION HAS AFFECTED YOU, PLEASE WRITE A LETTER TO THE NUISANCE TASK FORCE AND BRING IT WITH YOU TO THE NACW MEETING SO THAT IT CAN BE NOTARIZED.  IF YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO ATTEND THE MEETING PLEASE EMAIL THEM TO THE WBNA

On October 1, the property will be coming before the Nuisance Task Force and neighbors have been invited to submit affidavits (a written statement confirmed by oath or affirmation, for use as evidence in court ) to the Nuisance Task Force expressing their concern about this long standing, dangerous situation.

These letters will be given to the Lt. Richard Fernandez, District 4 Commander, who will present them to the Nuisance Task Force at their meeting.
