Our May Neighborhood Nights meeting focuses on RI’s housing crisis through the lens of housing experts, advocates, and City officials, as well as personal testimony. Guests will give an overview of housing systems and policy strategy that will inform a dynamic community conversation, with the aim of encouraging deeper understanding and engagement on what we can do as a community, city and state to address affordability issues.
We welcome Dr. Eric Hirsch, urban sociologist; Aaron Regunberg, Senior Policy Advisor to Mayor Elorza; City Councilor Rachel Miller; Signs of Providence; Homes RI; and Housing Network of RI. After a brief presentation by Dr. Hirsch, neighbors will be invited to engage in discussions with our guests about housing issues, policy and legislation, and strategies to confront this mounting crisis.
Starting at 7pm, District 4 Police Commander Lt. Fernandes will be available for his open chat and “office hours” with neighbors to discuss crime-related issues and the District 4 Crime Report.
Free food, child care and Spanish interpretation provided, plus open gym. Meet your neighbors, learn about WBNA and neighborhood initiatives, and get involved!
