Planning and development shape and reshape our city and neighborhood, and are the focus of our June Neighborhood Nights meeting. This event features a presentation on Providence’s Great Streets Initiative and a Project Review by our Community Development Committee of new construction proposed for 1386 Westminster Street.
We welcome Martina Haggerty, Associate Director of Special Projects with the Providence Department of Planning and Development, to share with us about the Great Streets Initiative, which aims to improve neighborhoods throughout the city by making its streets “safe, clean, healthy, inclusive, and vibrant.” Learn about the city’s draft Master Plan created with community input for needed streetscape improvements and investments that include traffic calming, increased safety for pedestrians and cyclists, and more.
Following this presentation will be a Community Development Committee (CDC) Review of new construction and improvements to an existing building at 1386 Westminster Street, owned by Erminio Pinque of Big Nazo. Erminio and his architect will present their proposed development plans (rendering below) to our CDC and to all neighbors who will be able to ask questions and give feedback.
Starting at 7pm, District 4 Police Commander Lt. Fernandes will be available for his monthly open “office hours” to discuss crime-related issues one on one with neighbors. If interested in speaking with the Lieutenant, sign up at the front table when you arrive.
Neighborhood Nights meetings are free and open to everyone. Food, child care and Spanish interpretation are provided, plus open gym. Meet your neighbors, learn about WBNA and neighborhood initiatives, and get involved!
